This town is shelling quite a bit of money for improvements they feel to be ade. The fields they want will improve the town in a few different ways. When spending that much, though, it’s important to insure money isn’t wasted. They need to keep track of what’s going on with the money. This is nearly a million. It’s not pocket changge to be squandered. A lot of work can get done if care is taken.
- Wednesday night, New Canaan’s Town Council took the advice of the Board of Finance members and voted in favor of borrowing $800,000 to complete the current athletic fields projects.
- A total of $5.8 million has been committed to the project, coming from a bonded expenditure of $3.9 million combined with $1.9 million in private donations.
- Some of the councilmen who voted against the project felt that it was being pushed through at too fast of a pace.
“The elected representatives of the people, the Town Council, followed the recommendation of the Board of Finance and voted Wednesday night to borrow another $800,000 in order to finish the athletic fields projects that are underway at New Canaan High School and Waveny Park. The vote was 8 to 4.”
