Inclement weather from Storm Emma has cast a spotlight on the failure of many Irish firms to effectively integrate mobility-enabling policies, technologies and management practices. As many as two thirds off irish workers report that they either are not permitted to telework per company policy, even when it would otherwise be feasible to do so, or lack the tools to do so. This causes considerable losses of Productivity when inclement weather prevents people from traveling, and also reduces worker flexibility.
- Approximately 2/3rds of Irish people working from home lack permission and tools to do so.
- A whopping 63 percent of Irish people were unable to complete their work in the past few days.
- In the end, Irish companies who don’t embrace technological advancements will suffer the most.
“Furthermore, the majority of employees will have made the sensible decision not to attempt to commute this morning considering that advice remained valid overnight.”
