Developer behind Word, Excel returns to Microsoft – Big Country Homepage

Seth Fiegerman notes the enthusiastic return of Charles Simonyi to Microsoft after several years away from the company. Simonyi, one of Microsoft’s early employees, was instrumental in helping develop key products such as Excel and Microsoft Word. Simonyi’s return was brought about by Microsoft’s acquisition of his startup company, Intentional Software, which specializes in productivity tools. This move is a part of a larger strategy spearheaded by Microsoft CEO, Satya Nadella to provide top-quality tools for consumers and businesses.
