Excel Spreadsheets have long ruled the office workforce and are surprisingly still a key building block of day-to-day operations. While some may live by the mantra, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” Shishir Mehrotra decided the wheel was not as well-oiled as one might hope. While working for YouTube and seeing firsthand how the giant corporation still used something as simple as Excel, he became passionate about creating a solution that was more flexible and adequate for current needs and technology. Enter in Coda. It seamlessly combines the blank slate of document programs with spreadsheets and no formula values are needed! One can simply label the rows and use those to define values and formulas. It is currently in its beginning stages but companies like Uber are already eagerly testing it with promising results. Our world needs more problem-solvers like Shishir Mehrotra.
