In order to increase productivity, one should be focused on what’s going on in the moment. Turn off cell phones and other devices when the situation calls for paying attention to others. Show that you’re paying attention by making eye contact. When your attention is needed, focus on the problem you’re dealing with and not other things that may be bothering you. Don’t allow interruptions by taking steps to prevent them from happening in the first place. Make sure that you’re actively participating in the task or discussion at hand.
- Turning off technology removes distractions in order to help keep you focused on what you are actually trying to do
- Participation and eye contact during interactions help you stay connected to the people that you are with
- Do not allow distractions to interrupt what you are currently attending to
“Your life and productivity are both enhanced when you actively participate in what is going on around you.”
